After testing Oculus Link for the first time, I have been super disappointed. Common stuttering, fps drops and bad image quality. My computer seems, however, to have enough power for the game I was testing: Beat Saber, Steam edition.
My config: Ryzen 7 3800XT, GTX 1660 Super, 32 GB RAM, SSD
Tried playing the game through Virtual Desktop. It was a bit better, but still not what I expected. Also: Oculus Link was meant to offer a huge benefit over WiFi connection.
Moreover, my GPU and CPU were used bellow 20% during VR gaming. Weird.
This morning, trying to find something to improve the performance, I have found this in the Wiki: Steam Games with Native Oculus Support.
Tried on Beat Saber and the quality is amazing, the FPS is great, the latency low!
So if you are experiencing bad performances with VR games, start by running them outside Steam VR. Seems like Valve has a lot to do with their software.
