Hey guys I have recently been having issues with my quest 2 using Virtual Desktop, Air link, and even oculus brand link cable that I just recently purchased. Before I dive into the issue here are my specs: AMD Ryzen 5800x 32gb RAM AMD 6700XT NVME SSD
Issue started about 3 days ago when I noticed awful studdering, and latency issues with virtual desktop after it was working just fine the previous day. I switched to Air link with no change in the issue. I have Ubuqiti 5 ghz access points so I logged into the controller and kicked everyone off of the AP my quest was connected to with no change. But I did noticed in Virtual Desktop that there was a very high encoding latency. Which is making me lean towards a driver or software issue.
So I moved on and purchased a link cable to eliminate my network. It is being recognized in the oculus app as 3.0 with 2.5 gb speed. When I launch VR chat I get unplayable studdering and screen tearing. I noticed that my GPU is hovering around 20% utilization instead of 80 to 90 percent like it used to with virtual desktop.
Things I have tried so far: Reinstalled steamvr and used default graphic settings, Reinstalled SteamVR games, Reinstalled oculus software with default graphic settings, Updated GPU drivers, Factory defaulted the quest, Unplugged second monitor (saw on another forum post that could help), Probably more I forgot by now.
The GPU still sits around 20% utilization none of these I tried so far had any affect. This is making me lean towards a possible GPU driver issue or something I am setting up wrong in oculus or steam. I have not tried a fresh install of W10 with just steamvr and oculus yet but wanted to see if anyone else had any ideas before I go that far.
Edit: wanted to add that this setup was working great for virtual desktop for months until I was encountering this issue, this issue just seemed to happen overnight and there was not any changes to my system or home network.
